VISUAL INTERPRETATION

Illustrations with
context.

Our images help readers picture a story. They are not evidence of what a historical object or person looked like.

How we label images

Story images are modern visual interpretations, not historical artifact reconstructions. The being and context reference pages now have subject-specific modern illustrations; these are visual interpretations, not universal portraits or definitive reconstructions.

How we review them

We check that story images stay within details established by the selected telling and avoid assigning a precise era when the source does not provide one. Cultural objects should be depicted for clarity before decoration. Captions identify where a form varies or remains speculative.

Style and rights

Our visual direction draws broadly on Korean folk-art traditions without copying a particular artwork or asking for the style of a living artist. The new illustrations were generated with the built-in image generation tool on 2026-10-03. Their image-specific prompt briefs and asset paths are recorded in the project research notes. No further editing was applied after generation.

All current images remain prototype assets. Cultural review and rights documentation remain open; research references do not establish image-use permission.
